What are SPARKs?
Not another change programme. We change everyday work itself.
A SPARK is a structured team routine of around 20 minutes, developed by the TATIN Institute for Strategy Activation. In its regular team meeting, a team works on a real, everyday issue, aligns it with the strategic goals and agrees on a concrete action with an owner and a deadline. This is how strategy gets executed in day-to-day business, without additional workshops.
A SPARK is a short, structured team routine of around 20 minutes. It runs in meetings that take place anyway, works on the team's real issues and ends with a real decision.
- Directly in existing meetings
- On real problems
- With real decisions
- With clear ownership
- With visible follow-through
How does a SPARK work?
- ShareThe team leader shares their screen and the team scans a QR code with their own smartphones. Everyone answers at the same time and anonymously, in around three minutes. No app, no registration, no login.
- DiscussThe answers are automatically clustered into topics and aligned with the strategy's focus areas. In around ten minutes, the team jointly chooses the topic that matters most right now.
- ActThe team agrees on an action within its own sphere of influence, with an owner and a deadline. At the next SPARK, the team uses the impact check to assess what it achieved.
An example: “What is currently blocking our collaboration and putting our project goals at risk?”
What sets SPARKs apart from workshops and employee surveys?
Workshops take place outside everyday work, and their impact fades as soon as daily routine returns. Employee surveys identify problems but do not solve them. SPARKs start where the work happens: the team names a problem, decides and acts in the same session. All data is generated as part of the process, with no additional survey effort.
Source: TATIN Impact Data. Measured via the built-in impact check and usage data from the SPARKs platform in our own client projects, without any additional survey.
How we measure
Every action a team decides on in a SPARK gets an owner and a due date. In the next SPARK the team assesses whether it was implemented and whether it worked. This impact check and the platform usage data, i.e. topics worked on, actions decided and actions implemented, are evaluated only in aggregate across at least five leaders. The figures come from our own client projects and are not an independent benchmark.
Frequently asked questions
- Do team members need an app or an account?
- No. The team leader shares their screen, and everyone else scans a QR code with their smartphone. There is no registration and no login.
- How often do SPARKs take place?
- Regularly in the existing team meeting, typically every two weeks. A SPARK can be repeated, for example as a retro, and builds on what the team said before.
- Are contributions anonymous?
- Yes. Team members are not logged in, so a contribution can never be traced back to an individual. Names only appear when someone takes on an action, and only within their own team.
SPARKs turn everyday teamwork into focused execution, with clear ownership and reliable follow-up.
