Achieve more by doing less
“I don’t need another item on my desk. I need a clear desk.”
A SPARK is a team routine of around 20 minutes within the existing regular team meeting, developed by the TATIN Institute for Strategy Activation. Every perspective in the team is heard, and the team decides on a concrete step with an owner, a binding timeline and an impact check. The meeting gets shorter, and alignment with the strategy happens along the way.
What gets taken off your plate?
- The same people always talk, usually the loudest
- Whoever speaks first stops 25 minutes later
- There is no decision at the end
- No next steps, let alone clear responsibilities
- Every perspective in the team is heard and made visible, including those of the quiet ones
- Contributions are automatically sorted and aligned with the focus areas
- The team jointly chooses the issue that matters most right now
- It decides on a concrete step with an owner, a binding timeline and an impact check
- Documentation and feedback run automatically
How much time do you save?
A regular team meeting lasts 60 minutes on average. A single problem or the next steps can easily take up 40 minutes of that, because everyone speaks one after the other. In a SPARK, everyone writes down their view at the same time for three minutes, the contributions are clustered automatically, the team sets the focus and decides who owns the next step. That is 20 out of 60 minutes, so around 30% saved. And because a decision has been made, the follow-up meeting is no longer needed.
